About Fairy Tales And Such

Most Fairy Tales are very old and some first began by passing the story told from person to person, rather than writing it down. Many well-known fairy tales you may recognize are: The Little Mermaid or by Hans Christian Andersen, Snow White passed down by the Brothers Grimm, and Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault.

Fairy tales fall within the realm of folktales and often have elements of the magical world within them. A unique distinction in fairy tales is that they do not need a ‘fairy’ within their stories.

The world of the Fae is a bit more complicated. The term ‘faerie’ and not ‘fairy’ is more often accepted when we talk about faeries in folklore. A common faerie you may be familiar with is an elf or a gnome. Below are a few faeries found in folklore.
